A Day in the Life (of a Graphic Design Major)

This past week, I had a few people come up to me and ask, "What do you even do as a graphic design major?" So yesterday I spent the day trying to document, through pictures, the majority of what I do during the day, and here it is, friends.

Thankfully, as an art major I don't have any classes at 8 a.m. this year, so I usually get up around then, make a cup of coffee with my roommate's keurig, and have me some Jesus time.

Art Senior Seminar is my first class of the day on Tuesdays. Most recently we are learning how to best format our résumés, because we actually have to "adult" in a few months.

Graphic Design 3 is next on the docket.  Not pictured here: my delicious (and absolute favorite) vanilla, caramel apple cider from the Bunson Brew in the science building.

Sometimes our crazy schedules collide and one of my roommates and myself can have lunch together! We decided to grab a salad and sandwich from the Grille... because neither of us wanted to cook. ;)

And finally, it's off to Painting class! We spent the day in critique format, looking at our Postmodernist paintings, the first and most recent project we've done.

Class is done and it's a beautiful day! (insert confetti emoji here)

Our CDA's (Community Development Assistants - basically the RA's of the apartments) are absolutely amazing and hosted an evening of sand volleyball, spikeball, and free food for the upperclassmen! It was SO MUCH fun.

Well, there you have it, folks. A day in the life.

Here's 3 things I realized while writing this post:

  1. I did not cook for myself all day (sorry, mom, but thanks Dordt!)
  2. I didn't get a picture of my intramural sand volleyball team after we won our game yesterday! We had intramural sand volleyball games late last night after several hours of studying and homeworking.
  3. There are not near enough pictures of the amazing people I interacted with throughout the day. (Hey, there's an idea for my next post! Stay tuned, friends.)
