Brynn Vander Beek is a freshman social work major from Pella, Iowa. She wrote down a few reasons why she likes Dordt to be shared with prospective students at her high school—and we thought we’d share them with you, too!
Community. I have met so many people in just the short time I have been here, and Dordt is truly a great community to be a part of.
Professors. I love all of my professors and you can tell they truly care about their students. They integrate faith into all of their lessons.
Campus activities. So far, they have been so fun, and they are a great way to make friends. We have worship nights, intramurals, movie nights, and other fun activities!
Dordt College Framework. I love that Dordt has a document that outlines how our faith is integrated into our education. It lets us know what we can expect from our professors.
Small Campus. You never have to walk very far! The campus is also very pretty.
Chapel. While it’s not required, it’s something that I really enjoy going to and would highly recommend. It’s a great little break and a bit of encouragement in the middle of the week.
Learning about my faith. I’ve grown up in a very Christian community all my life, so I am glad that I get to learn more about my own beliefs and God’s word.
Athletic Teams. I am on the dance team here and so far I love it! It keeps me active and gives me a great group of girls to be friends with. The coaches here are also great role models, and truly care about the athletes!
Laundry loop. Athletes put their practice clothes on laundry loop and they get washed for us. It’s so nice and saves us time.
Small class sizes. I get to know my professors and classmates well because I don’t have huge classes. I feel like I get more one on one help from professors. It keeps me and other students accountable for getting to class and getting the work done.
Majors. I am a social work major, and Dordt has an AMAZING social work program. It’s one of the main reasons I chose to go here. The other majors Dordt offers are amazing as well!
Core 100. Kingdom, Identity, and Calling has been one of my favorite classes so far. It enables me to have deep conversations with my classmates and learn more about myself as well.
These are just a few of the reasons I love Dordt! For most of high school, I didn’t consider Dordt, but I am so glad I visited and chose to go here! I hope all of you will decide to visit and maybe even decide to come here as well.
